Earlier counts indicate that $50,000 has been raised for the second consecutive, with all money raised on the night to be donated to the Daffodil Cottage in the coming weeks.

Funds will then be used to purchase high cost treatment drugs for patients battling cancer that might not be easily accessible.

One of the event organisers and BoxGrove partner, Ben Fry, said there were some huge donations on the night.

"Not only did Dawson's Removals sponsor the event, they also donated another $6000 in auction items that they bought," he said. "Steele and Co also put in a few more thousand dollars worth of auction items they bought.

"We also had a man called Ian Meek, who was touched by one of the stories from a cancer survivor. He had a loved one who he had lost to cancer a couple of years back and he got up there, grabbed a mic and said, 'I'm going to give you another five grand!'

"Then his daughter, Georgia, got up and I thought she was going to grab the mic off him but she got up and said she's going to match five grand too!

"And then Ben Stevens, who works with Georgia, gets up and said, 'This is unreal guys, I'm going to match your five grand too'.

"The night was so great, with so many people digging deep into their pockets. I don't think there was one person who didn't contribute in one way."

The inaugural HOPE event was held back in 2017 and managed to raise $7800.

But the event has grown massively in recent years and last year's event raised $50,000, meaning well over $100,000 has been raised in the entire history of the HOPE fundraising event at BoxGrove.
