Nicholson has been selected as part of the Australian team to contest August's Under 16s Snooker World Championships, the biggest tournament in his young career having previously represented his country during last year's Trans Tasman Test Match.
Excellent performances across a range of 2018 events paved the way for Nicholson's selection as the male representative in the Australian squad.
Among those highlights was a quarter-finals appearance in the Under 21s Australian Snooker Championships, NSW Junior Snooker and Billiards Championships plus the mantle of being the youngest ever winner of the Under 21s Australian Billiards Championships.
"I don't really have any expectations. I hope I can go alright but you never know what it's going to be like," Nicholson said.

In the meantime Nicholson's been keeping himself busy taking on other Bathurst players to keep himself up to speed.
"I've been playing a few local comps lately. There's been four of them. I've won two of them, finished runner-up in one and made the semis in the other," he said.
The World Open Under-16 Snooker Championships runs from August 18 to 24.
Nicholson's family have set up a GoFundMe page to help cover costs for the trip, which can be found at gofundme.com/u16-snooker-world-championship.
