The Bathurst resident and councillor has been Labor's candidate for Calare at three consecutive elections, but has never been able to secure enough votes to claim the seat.
He hasn't given up trying, though, and this morning was joined at Bathurst Public School by his wife Kate Jennings to cast their votes.

Mr Jennings said that, throughout the election campaign, he has received a lot of positive feedback from voters in the electorate.
On Saturday morning, he was receiving messages from some lifelong Liberal-Nationals voters, who said they had just cast their votes for him.
Clearly the messages had a good impact, as Mr Jennings said he was feeling relaxed and content now election day had arrived.
"I believe fully that the voters are always right, regardless of who comes in first, that's their decision and I fully respect it," he said.
He has chosen to spend the first half of his day in Bathurst, before heading out to the Lithgow area in the afternoon.
While Mr Jennings will be concentrating on his own result, he will also be watching closely to see how other candidates poll.
"It'll be an interesting X-factor to see how the Shooters [Fishers and Farmers] do in Orange. Will they repeat the Phil Donato performance or something similar," he said.
If the election doesn't go the way Mr Jennings would like, he intends to remain a prominent figure in the Bathurst community through his roles with Bathurst Regional Council and the Australian Milling Museum.
