All up, the fundraiser, Country Cruisin' For Can Assist, raised $22,500 for Can Assist, which helped provide years of support when Ash battled Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Held on Sunday, April 28, the fundraiser saw car, bike and ute owners shine up their vehicles and make the drive from the Rockabilly Cafe in Keppel Street to the Coronation Hotel at Portland.
At the hotel, there was a barbecue lunch, raffle and silent auction, with all funds going towards the final figure raised.
Local businesses also got on board, by either making a financial donation or a donation towards the raffle.
Ash's sister Mel James said it was great to see so much local support for the event.
"We had a lot of businesses get on board from Bathurst, with $10,000 worth of items donated to raffle prizes," she said.
"One business that got on board was Aura Artistic Images and they donated a big photograph package."
All up, Ms James said roughly 250 to 300 vehicles participated in the drive from Bathurst to Portland.
Originally, organisers for Country Cruisin' For Can Assist didn't set a goal for a fundraising figure.
However, Ms James is hoping to see more money raised in 2020.
All money raised has been donated to Can Assist, which helped support Ash, his wife and young family by paying for medical and treatment bills, car registration, power bills, phone bills and more.
Last Tuesday, members of the James family presented the cheque to members of Can Assist Bathurst, who were extremely thankful for the support.
"Can Assist Bathurst helps seek financial assistance for people affected by any form of cancer," she said.
"Can Assist Bathurst helps people within the 2795 postcode, so people know that when they give to Can Assist, the money is staying in the Bathurst region."
