Captain Markwick was inspirational in steering her side to victory by winning all of her four sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, 6-1. Eglinton's young gun and nationally ranked player Jorge Collins was running hot playing some brilliant tennis from the back of the court and serving like a true champion. Collins won all of his four sets 7-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-1.
In one of Jorge's sets, he partnered former Bathurst junior champion slugger John Bullock, with the pair winning over the tall poppy pair of Rod Schumacher and Garth Hindmarch in fine style 6-4.
Sharks Kevin Tree looked impressive winning three if his four sets 6-1, 7-6, 6-4. Tree on his day has the ability to beat any of the big gun players and is a definite danger player in his coming matches.
Sharks Gideon Roos as always, week in week out continues to play good quality consistent tennis. Roos is not to be taken lightly, and too, looked quite composed and in total control to win three of his sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.
It was a polished display of tennis from the Sharks who have come last on the ladder to leapfrog two sides to be in the fourth spot. Captain of the Sharks Stacey Markwick believes that her side can still make the semis.
"We played really well today as a team and not as individuals, as we have in the past." Markwick said. Losing captain Garth Hindmarch was not a happy chappy after his teams belting.
"As captain, it was very disappointing, I didn't win a set which is not good enough as a captain, but we still rallied hard all day as a team and never gave up hope. We will bounce back though, don't you worry about that." Hindmarch said.
Bullocks Tigers roared again and plucked the roosters feathers with a very convincing win over Rod Schumacher's Roosters eight sets to four.
The Tigers keep silencing there critics and are now outright leaders. They are looking grand final material after each round. Barry Lindsays Rabbits were in fine form winning a close match over Allyson Schumacher's Eels seven sets to five.
Rabbits Captain Lindsay was happy with the win but not getting too carried away. "We played OK today but not fantastic tennis. My side is just taking match by match, and waiting to pull that magic rabbit out of the hat when we play the big gun sides." Lindsay said.
Losing Eels Captain Iron Lady Allyson Schumacher wasn't happy on her team's performance." It's back to the drawing board." Schumacher said.
Well, folks another great round of champagne tennis at the biggest little club in the west. Match Conveynor Allyson Schumacher has urged all captains to make sure their players are ready to start play at no later than 12.30pm. The days are getting shorter with winter coming on, so punctuality is a must. Good Hitting.
