Old Government Cottage in Stanley Street is open from 12 noon to 4pm. Come and visit and view the presentation. It is laid out as a timeline to allow visitors to more logically see the development of the area and how the Europeans crossed the Blue Mountains, how the road was built by Cox, along with aspects of the convict settlement. Whilst the exact date of the building still defies researchers it could be as early as 1826 or 1827 or the 1850s. All scenarios are laid out to see. A PowerPoint presentation of early Bathurst images have been amalgamated into the exhibit which gives a fascinating insight into the early years of Bathurst after photography developed in the 1870s and later.
