Saturday gave us a beautiful afternoon to be outside enjoying the sunshine with only a light breeze mostly from the northwest to occasionally lift the flags then dropping at times to allow the mirage to creep from the east.

The upgraded electronics of the target system performed well as the club members familiarised themselves with the new software and scores, in general, were not too bad for the difficult 700 yards target. Some may have expected above-average scores in the conditions, but there were enough swings of mirage and flags to dampen most hopes.
In the Target Rifle class, Dennis Lavelle again showed good consistent shooting to take the days Cock of the Walk badge by one point from Gordon Shepherd. Graeme Bright had a slow start to the first stage score but a better finish, later on, left him in the third spot for the day ahead of Ron Gibson.
F Class was dominated by a strong finishing Graham Willis who grabbed the days CoW by several points late in the day from the next best Ben Wright and Geoff Willis. Angus Ogilvie continued to struggle with the club right handed rifle while he patiently awaits the arrival of his new and more suitable equipment which should see an overall improvement. Col Howell struggled with the effects of some bad luck during the week and some tricky swings of mirage didn't help his score while Nick Webster, unfortunately, saw the result of mixing different batches of ammunition in his second stage.
The I Hughes and R Northcott Trophies were won by Graham Willis with Dennis Lavelle runner up.
Next Saturday is the last range for this year's club championship and the start of the Secretaries Trophy from 900 yards.
