The grant, which is worth $147,647, will see a number initiatives completed to make the stadium more user-friendly.

It will see the courts, scoreboards and backboards upgraded, as well as temperature controlled units installed in the foyer and cafe area. Doors will be installed to seal this area to save energy and keep the temperature at a constant comfort level.

There will also be an upgrade to the public amenities.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the funding will help the stadium cater for bigger tournaments in the future.

"The stadium is in high demand, with a strong basketball competition," he said.

"However, it's not just basketball, with netball, indoor soccer and volleyball all being played here. It also hosts regional sports tournaments and development programs."

Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium manager Andrew James said it's an exciting time for the venue.

"We'll be doing up the backboards but the floor boards will be our most vital thing," he said.

"They're a bit old and a bit worn, so we're going to try and get a bit more life back into them.

"They'll sand all the lacquer and lime work back. They'll re-sand and make it all smooth again, do all the lines again. We'll keep all the timber boards, which are in pretty good shape, but it'll pretty much be done from new again.

"We're try and upgrade the backboards in the man hall too and the scoreboards."

Mr James said the grant is a good step for the stadium, after the drama in recent times.

"It's like starting afresh again," he said.

"The takeover has been nearly 18 months and it's been pretty good. If we can improve the place and fix-up a few things here and there, it's going to be really good."

Basketball NSW took over the running of the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium in deal confirmed back in February, 2018.

The stadium's immediate future came under a cloud in late 2017 when Bathurst Regional Council refused to extend a lease for the Bathurst Basketball Association to continue managing the facility.

The basketball association had taken over the running of the stadium from council back in 2012, before the lease renewal was denied in 2017.
