The first nation-wide Red Shield Appeal was held by the Salvation Army in 1970 and since then, millions of homes have been visited by doorknockers collecting donations.
Bathurst residents have over the years given what they could to support the organisation, but the backbone of the appeal in the regional city has always been the Salvation Army staff and volunteers who donate their time to help.
In this gallery, we will be taking a look back at those people who have been pictured in the Western Advocate between 2009 and 2019 because of their role in the Red Shield Appeal.
We have more than 30 photos, so sit back and take a look at some of the faces of Salvos staff, volunteers and community partners who have contributed.
And if you're after more from the past, you can see our entire collection of history galleries here.
