There have been no road closures so far but motorists have been urged to take extra care, particularly on the Great Western Highway between Bathurst and Lithgow.
There is snow on the roads on high country around Yetholme and Sunny Corner with traffic affected in both directions.
The first reports of snow came in just before noon with falls reported in Blayney, Black Springs and Oberon.

Western Advocate reader Julie Cole captured a video of heavy snow near Fitzgeralds Mount, between Bathurst and Blayney, while there has also been a decent dump of snow at the top of Mount Canobolas in Orange.
The widespread falls came as temperatures across the Bathurst region failed to make it into double figures.
The temperature at the Bureau of Meteorology's official weather station at Bathurst Airport hit a top of just 8.7 degrees Celsius at 11am and was back down to 6.3 by 2.30pm.
However, a freezing westerly wind meant the apparent temperature was a very chilly -1.9 degrees.
