Mr Davidson, a paramedic, was lowered from a helicopter to rescue eight sailors during the 1988 Sydney to Hobart race, which is remembered for the severe storm that led to an enormous search and rescue effort in the sea and the loss of six lives.
As part of his talk, Mr Davidson will show rescue video footage.
He is coming to Bathurst for the second event in the Inspire Series, which is run by employment and training organisation VERTO in partnership with Bathurst Regional Council.
The series, which began last year, aims to deliver free inspirational experiences that help motivate and encourage those in the community to recognise their own value and reach their goals.

Last year's event, which drew a crowd of more than 250 people, including school students, VERTO clients, members of the public and community leaders, featured John Coutis, a double amputee who gets around on a skateboard.
Mr Coutis, who was so small when he was born that he could fit in the palm of a hand, spoke about being resilient, treating people in the same way you would want to be treated and cherishing the gift of life.
"We're excited to provide access to another outstanding speaker, allowing the Bathurst community to benefit from his message of determination and persistence," VERTO chief executive Ron Maxwell said of this year's event.
Mr Davidson will speak on Tuesday, July 16 at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre from 8am to 9am. Entry will be free.
