It was a win that brought plenty of joy to Londonderry trainer Sam Simonetta.

"It's taken me six months to get him right," he said.

"At Bulli he got hit and fell over and at Richmond he hit the boxing coming out. I've had all sorts of problems with him.

"He was probably an eight length better dog three months ago. He's had a toe and wrist injury and has suffered from dehydration.

"If I brought him here when he was flying, he would've broken 26 [seconds], but he's doing everything I want him to do and he's going right, running beautifully. He's just not putting it together on the clock, but you can't do more than win.

"The owners are stoked, I'm stoked as well."

The win was Munane Trapped's second consecutive, following on from his win at Bathurst on May 27, bringing his career placings up to two from six starts.

His time of 26.41 seconds was the second fastest Munane Trapped has run across 450 metres, the best being only a fifth place finish at Bathurst back on April 22.

He finished ahead of two of Kaleb Weekes' chances - Winlock Pirate ($1.65 favourite) and Winlock Buttons - who ran second and third respectively.

Cosmic Courtney ($23) finished in fourth, with Rex ($18) running in fifth position and Diamond Enlim ($18) claiming the final place.
