Bathurst Regional Council recently accepted the tender put forward by Weber Concrete Construction, which was to the value of $2,011,231.
The company has been engaged for the the design and construction of a new pedestrian walkway and elevated boardwalk inside the Mount Panorama circuit, which will run from Griffin's Bend to Forest's Elbow.
The walkway will be around 1650 metres long and is set to include a viewing platform at Brock's Skyline.
Council's general manager, David Sherley, said that councillors had to decide between eight tenders that were submitted by construction companies.
"Choosing of the successful tenderer took into account factors such as project value, project experience and the functionality of the proposals put forward, and it was determined that Weber Concrete Construction was the one that best satisfied those conditions," he said.
"They've also done works for the council in the past."
When construction does get under way, Mr Sherley said there is likely to be some disruption to traffic around Mount Panorama.
"Parts of the works will require traffic control to be put in place," he said.
Bathurst Regional Council and the NSW Government struck a deal in April, 2018 to jointly fund the boardwalk as a way to increase pedestrian safety around Mount Panorama.
Each level of government agreed to contribute $1 million to the project, taking the total cost of the boardwalk to $2 million.
When the announcement was made, mayor Graeme Hanger said the boardwalk was intended to be open by the end of 2019.
Mr Sherley said this was still the deadline council was working to.
The boardwalk will also be used as a location for interpretive signage, telling stories about the many facets of Mount Panorama's history, including Wiradyuri culture and motor racing.
