Police are continuing their investigations into a large-scale drug manufacturing operation following a swoop on the Boyd Street property.

The raid began on Friday afternoon but was suspended overnight due to safety concerns. It resumed on Saturday morning.

After obtaining a search warrant on Friday, police established a crime scene at the home which they allege had a sophisticated hydroponic set-up inside.

Chifley Police District duty officer Inspector Gerard Powell said the home was raided "as a result of information received".

He said after police gained entry to the property it became apparent the electricity supply had been tampered with.

Inspector Powell said it was often the case with illegal hydroponic set-ups that the electricity supply to a property would be comprised due to the power required to run the operation.

He said it could be an incredibly dangerous situation for investigating officers.

"Our early indications were that electricity at the property had been tampered with so Essential Energy was called to render it safe before anything else could be done," he said.

Because of the risk to investigators, it was deemed too dangerous to begin dismantling the operation late on Friday night.

The property remained under police guard overnight and detectives returned to the scene at 8am on Saturday.

Inspector Powell said police - including detectives and officers from the Forensic Services Group - began the task of dismantling the hydroponic set-up.

Cannabis plants and other drug manufacturing paraphernalia could be seen from the street as officers began to take apart the operation.

"Police seized 200 cannabis plants, at various stages of maturity, plus a large amount of cannabis," Inspector Powell said.

"Officers also seized a large number of lights, transformers and other equipment from the scene.

"Further investigations are ongoing and police are undertaking forensic examinations of a number of items seized from the property."

Inspector Powell said there was no indication anyone was living in the property.
