Lining up from box number two in the Ladbrokes Cash In Maiden (307 metres), Rapid Rocket started the race as second favourite at $4.40, behind hot favourite Dyna Vienna ($1.40).

Come the jump, Rapid Rocket didn't get the best start out from the boxes, running in fourth at the end of first section, behind Drunken Phoenix ($16), Drunken Meg ($15) and Dyna Vienna in first, second and third respectively.

But as they came into the turn, Rapid Rocket poked ahead and never looked back.

Dyna Vienna did her best to chase down Rapid Rocket, when it turned into a two-dog race in the home stretch, but Rapid Rocket held on to win by one length.

Close Encounter ($10), trained by Derek Kerr, rounded up the placings, finishing the race in third place.

Drunken Meg ran fourth, How's It Sporty ($18), trained by Gilgandra's Merle Clarke, came fifth and Drunken Phoenix in sixth rounded out the final position.

Caitlyn Brewer said Rapid Rocket said she was happy with her dog's win, just the hound's second ever win.

"We've always known he's had good early speed and that's all he really needs to get where he needs to get to in the runs," she said.

"As long as he jumps, he'll be right."

She described her two-year-old dog as a great one to work with in training.

"He's a beautiful dog, a beautiful kennel dog, a beautiful all round dog," she said.

"We'll probably bring him back here next week, step him up in the distance and see where it takes him."

Ricky Brewer had another two starters - Tour Of Duty - in race eighth, running eighth and Even Quicker, running last in race 11.
