The locals lay in wait for the visiting unwary and proceeded to give all but one visitor a serious lesson on the value of local course knowledge in that the only one non-local to feature in the prize-giving awards was Captain Jim Johnson.
A Grade was won by Wellingtonian David O'Brien with 40 points who defeated the valiant Jim Johnson with 38 on a count-back.
In B Grade the position was worse with Neale McCabe winning with a massive 43 points in front of Gavin McDonald on 40 points, both players originating from Wellington of course.
For a change, the ladies winner Kathy Martin with 37 points also came from the home town.
Closest to the pins were Doug Westcott, Darren Bruce, Fred Gander and Graham Walker and balls went down to 33 points.
Winner of the Free Lesson Voucher was popular and devoted committeeman Bill Roach who will be under the tuition of Wentworth pro Tod Brackenbridge at a future date so watch out for our next sortie to Ex Services golf course.
On July 1 the Central West Vets will take on the Blue Mountain Vets at Wentworth Falls golf course. Those interested in competing give your names to IPP of Bathurst Golf Club and immediate committeeman of CWV Manuel Pro.
The next Central West Vets event will be at Bathurst Golf course on June 24.
