A LIFETIME'S involvement in country music was acknowledged in Dubbo over the long weekend, when musician Kerry Hodge received the Dusty Boots Award for his contribution to the industry.

Mr Hodge got word last month he'd been nominated for the award at the Country Music Spectacular and Awards held in Dubbo, and was announced as the winner at the event.
Back in Bathurst this week, Mr Hodge said he was delighted to have won the award.

"It really means a lot, I've been in the industry a long time. To be honest I was tickled pink."
Mr Hodge has toured Australia over the years with some big entertainers including Dale Hooper and Lance Birrell. He performs for sick kids in hospital and his balancing acts while singing are among his most popular.
Over the years he has also used his busking to raise money for different charities. He said he was very happy just to be nominated, for the award, let alone win it.
"Even to be nominated for my contribution to country music was just fantastic," he said.
"I've travelled around Australia performing for over 40 years, it's what I Iove doing."
He said highlights of his career included singing with The Cockroaches before they became The Wiggles.
