The Sydney writer will be in Bathurst to discuss her latest novel, Sixty Summers, a story about three women who met in their youth.
Now about to turn 60, they decide to retrace the steps of their 1978 backpacking trip through Europe in an attempt to recapture the sense of freedom and purpose they once possessed, with unexpected results.

Hampson, who grew up on a dairy farm in New Zealand, has written professionally for more than 20 years and is the author of two non-fiction books, numerous articles and the novels The Olive Sisters, Two For The Road, The French Perfumer and The Yellow Villa.
The author lives in Sydney's Northern Beaches these days.
Library services manager Patou Clerc said the author talk would not only be an opportunity to discuss a theme that would resonate with many readers, but to learn tips from an author who didn't finish high school but has still fulfilled her ambition to become a writer.
"Amanda will have some great tips for budding writers and is proof that persistence pays off," Ms Clerc said.
"She will also discuss how she retraced her own travels around Europe in the 1970s when researching this book."
Amanda Hampson will speak at Bathurst Library next Friday, June 21 at 10.30am.
Bookings are essential. Call the library on 6333 6281, inquire at the front desk or register at eventbrite.com.au
