ALSO MAKING NEWS:
For young people aged six months to three years and their parent/carer there is a program called Little Faces. There will be singing, actions, and drawing. Little Faces will run 9.30am-10.15am on Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21. The program is free, limited capacity, bookings essential.
For those a little bit older there will be three sessions of Visual Thinking Strategies, a new approach to looking at visual objects. This program formed from a collaboration between the NPG and VTS New York, and involves participant-led discussion about the works in Starstruck. The program uses concepts of "close looking", verbalising observations and backing up theories with evidence.
Two sessions have been tailored specifically for educators, teachers and tertiary students which includes time for discussion and a debrief to get a little more understanding of VTS.
The two educators sessions run 4pm-5.30pm on Thursday and Friday, June 20 and 21. A third session for the general public will run 3pm-4pm on Saturday, June 22. The program is free, limited capacity, bookings essential.
On Friday, July 5 at 6pm, join photographer and artist David Darcy as he talks about his practice as a photographer, his interest in photographing dogs and his time on the set of Red Dog (2011). The talk will be followed by a screening of Red Dog (2011). The talk is a free event.
Then mark your calendar for Thursday, July 11 at 6pm as David Stratton will be in conversation with Janeen Hosemans at BRAG. David will discuss his love of film, Australian cinema, and his career as a film critic and commentator.
David has worked in the industry since the 1960s and is best known as co-host with Margaret Pomeranz on The Movie Show and At the Movies for 28 years. Tickets are $25 BRAGS members and students, $30 non-members. Bookings essential.
Gallery entry is free. For more information, go to www.bathurstart.com.au, our Facebook page, phone 6333 6555 or email brag@bathurst.nsw.gov.au.
