According to the data, hundreds of extra people presented to the Bathurst Hospital emergency department (ED) in the first three months of this year compared with the same time last year.
There were 6763 presentations to the Bathurst ED in the first quarter of 2019, up eight per cent on the 6262 in the first quarter of 2018.
And with Bathurst's population growing at one of the fastest rates in regional NSW, the pressure is only going to increase in years to come.
That's why the growing community campaign for greater health funding must continue to gather momentum, to help future-proof Bathurst health.
Bathurst Regional Council must lead the campaign but the Bathurst community must also contribute.
And the man likely to feel the most heat will be Bathurst MP Paul Toole who was comfortably returned to parliament by Bathurst voters in March but must now repay that faith.
We look forward to seeing how this pays out.
