Mirfin watched his three-year-old filly Gemmahra ($3.40 favourite) storm home to win the Country Maiden Showcase Plate (1,300 metres) at Dubbo and in the process continue the promising start to her career.
The Bathurst trainer has former Country Championships hopefuls Alcatran and Worldly Pleasure returning from spells on Monday.
Alcatran didn't fare well in his heat but has hit back in style this preparation with an encouraging trial win late last month. He takes on the Class 2 Plate (1,100m).
Worldly Pleasure went into her heat with two straight wins to her name but found the step up in class too tricky to handle.
The four-year-old mare returns in the Benchmark 66 Handicap (1,200m).
Paul Theobald (Dunderry, Bel Blaster, Attilius) and Peter Stanley (Abraded, Narrow Neck Nelson) are also in action.
