Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to a property on Upfold Street at 4.55pm on Thursday following reports that there was a fire burning.
Bathurst Station Officer Dane Philippe said crews from Bathurst and Kelso stations along with the HAZMAT unit attended the scene.
"It was a small fire that was extinguished not long after we arrived and then we tried to clear out as much smoke as possible," he said.

"It was extinguished quickly and there was no new damage to an already derelict building."
Station Officer Philippe said the property was a disused, derelict building in the old rehabilitation centre.
"The building was empty, but it was full of graffiti and there was damage through it," he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
