KELSO Public School will find it much easier to provide breakfast to its students thanks to the generosity of the Bathurst Lions Club.

On Friday, Lions representatives visited the school's Breakfast Club to make a $1000 donation to the initiative.
Bathurst Lions Club president Dominic Chircop said members have always seen a lot of value in the program and wanted to continue supporting it.
"We think the kids need it and it is a great idea, because some of the kids don't get breakfast and if they don't eat it's hard for kids to learn," he said.
The Breakfast Club is run three mornings a week with the help of volunteers, who serve breakfast to students, as well as make them sandwiches for lunch and provide them with healthy snacks.
Volunteers have traditionally been retired people in the community, but now younger people are helping as well.

Kelso Public School principal Lance Cooper said the school was very appreciative of the support from the Bathurst Lions Club, as well as other groups that make donations.
The $1000 donation will be used to cover costs associate with the program.
"That's about 20 per cent of our additional running costs [annually] beyond donations, so that is a big help to us," Mr Cooper said.
The Lions Club generates money in a variety of ways, including through its Farmers Markets, and that money is then used to support community projects in Bathurst.
Mr Chircop said the club intends to keep supporting Kelso Public School's Breakfast Club.
"We try to do it annually," he said. "We try to have a list. Last we gave them money and next year we plan to give again."
