The two DJR Team Penske Mustangs of Scott McLaughlin - the defending series champion - and Fabian Coulthard have been dominant in 2019 to see the duo sitting at the top of the drivers' championship.
Of the drivers currently sitting in the top 10, six steer Mustangs.
But whether or not the Mustangs will be able to impress in their Bathurst 1000 debut remains to be seen.
Former Great Race victors Garth Tander and Craig Lowndes will act as co-drivers at the Mount for Red Bull Racing duo Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup, which means those two Holden entries will hold strong claims.
David Reynolds, who currently sits third in the championship, will also be hungry to impress in the 161-lap epic in his Erebus Commodore ZB.
The eagerly anticipated battle at the 6.213 kilometre circuit meant demand for camping spots was hot when they went on sale to the general public on Monday morning at 11am.
A total of 7,100 sites are available across eight campsites; McPhillamy Park, Reid and Sulman, The Paddock, Max Cameron, The Chase, The Orchard, The Motorhome Park and Enduro.
By in the space of five hours, 6,400 of those were sold on Monday.
Campsites have become iconic on Mount Panorama, with fans from across the globe now spending months at a time preparing for the event. This year the event will begin on Thursday, October 10 and run through until Sunday, October 13.
Event manager Rachael White says demand is expected to be as strong as ever.

"There are eight campgrounds available across the event precinct as camping remains one of the most affordable and popular ways to watch the race," White said.
"Over the past few years the sites at the top of Mount Panorama and the paddock area campground have been extremely popular, taking just four days to sell out completely.
"Given their proximity to the track and family friendly facilities, our full-powered motorhome options remain hugely popular.
"Last year's event was attended by 206,755, the second highest attendance in the history of the race, only behind record of 207,205 set on the 50th anniversary edition in 2012.
"This is one of our country's greatest sporting spectacles supported by some of the most passionate and loyal fans in Australia."
As well as the battle for the Peter Brock Trophy, there will be a packed support bill. It will feature Dunlop Super2, ECB SuperUtes, Porsche Carrera Cup, Toyota 86 and the Touring Car Masters.
General admission, platinum grandstand, track side and paddock pass tickets are also now available via Ticketek, with kids under 12 admitted free.
