Zac joined students from across NSW for the United Nations Young Leaders summit to discuss the social, economic and educational aspects of the relationship.
The summit focused on countries who are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations [ASEAN], including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia.
Zac said the summit was a great opportunity to gain further knowledge on a vital foreign partnership.
"We attended a number of workshops during the day before meeting a panel of guest speakers who are experts in Australia-ASEAN relations," he said.
"There were things I learned about our relationship with south-east Asia I'd never considered before."
Zac said the summit helped enhance his communication skills, and gave him an insight into the importance of Australia's foreign relationships.
"I found it interesting learning about Australia's economy and its link to the ongoing development of south-east Asia," he said.
"The summit produced healthy discussion and I enjoyed hearing many different perspectives on the role of foreign relations."
