Al Denté owner Scott Taylor has partnered with the Dry July Foundation for the second time to raise much needed funds for the treatment of cancer patients.
In addition, Mr Taylor has promised to shave his head should he reach the fundraising total of $5000 by Sunday.
"While I haven't lost a loved one to cancer, it's heartbreaking to see so many people in the prime of their lives affected by this terrible illness," he said.
"Taking a month off alcohol is nothing compared to the struggles cancer patients and their families go through."
Mr Taylor has already raised around $600, and said he will still shave his head at the end of July if he reaches $5000.
"Charity fundraisers are about putting yourself out of your comfort zone and seeing the campaign all the way through," he said.
Mr Taylor last participated in Dry July three years ago, successfully raising around $2000.
Although the Dry July fundraiser allows a 'golden ticket' donation system to grant participants a night off the challenge, Mr Taylor said he will not be taking people up on the offer.
"There's a range of events I'll be attending in July involving alcohol consumption, but I take everything I commit to seriously and this campaign is no exception," he said.
"Every donation helps, and I encourage anyone to get involved."
