Officers attached to the Chifley Police District said the thefts have occurred during the past five days in the Kelso area.
Vehicles that have had items stolen from there were parked on: Miriyan Drive, Cheviot Place, Sloman Court, Ilumba Way and the railway station.
"Over the past five days, there have been several reports of stealing from motor vehicles. In some instances side windows have been smashed to gain entry, in others, vehicles have been unlocked," officers said in a statement.
Chifley police said a number of steps can be taken to reduce the chance of a theft and they have encouraged the community not to leave valuable items in vehicles.
"Popular items include: GPS equipment, iPads, wallets, handbags, cash, mobile phones and other portable equipment," officers said.
"If possible park your vehicle in a garage and lock the garage and the vehicle. For properties with internal access from the garage to the house, ensure door is also locked."
