Matt Walther, who works as a mechanic for Tony Leahey Motor Group in Orange, is headed to Belgium later this month to work with the R-Motorsport team at Spa 24 Hours.
And R-Motorsport is a team Mr Walther knows well.
"I first worked with the team at this year's Bathurst 12 Hour where we came away with a fantastic second outright result in the last race for the old car," he said.
"The 24 Hours of Spa is part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge and it's the biggest race in the world for just GT3 cars with 72 on the entry list this year.
"My team is looking strong for the event with promising results so far this season."
R-Motorsport will have three cars at this year's Spa 24 Hours - Matthieu Vaxivieren, Marvin Kirchhofer and Maxime Martin in car 62, Marvin Kirchhofer, Jake Dennis and Alex Lynn in car 76 and Ricky Collard, Hugo de Sadeleer, Ferdinand Von Habsburg and Aaro Vainio in car 762.
Dennis, Kirchhofer and Vaxiviere all drove in the Aston Martin that ran in second at this year's Bathurst 12 Hour, behind Matt Campbell, Dennis Olsen and Dirk Werner in their first finishing Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Mr Walther will be working on a Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT3, a car used by all three teams.
Having previously worked for teams in the Bathurst 1000, Bathurst 12 Hour and Bathurst 6 Hour, he's keen to get a taste of something different.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how they do it over in Europe and a 24 Hour is an experience that you just cannot get here in Australia," he said.
Last year's Spa 24 Hours was won by Walkenhorst Motorsport, a team that featured Tom Blomqvist, Philipp Eng and Christian Krognes.
Spa 24 Hours gets underway on Friday morning (Australian time) with practice and qualifying, the race proper starting at 12.30am on Sunday morning, running to 12.30am on Monday morning.
