On Tuesday, July 16, local artists Adam Deusien and Nel Kentish will present a monologue workshop. This one is great for teenagers studying drama, particularly those working towards their HSC.
It's a chance to take advantage of the school holidays and have a professional theatre-maker take a look at your work before you head into exams.
Adam Deusien is a Bathurst-based director and physical theatre maker with over 15 years of experience. He is the artistic director of Lingua Franca and, in 2016, was awarded the CreateNSW Regional Arts Fellowship.
Nel Kentish is a Bathurst-based theatre maker and director, too, as well as much-loved drama teacher. She is the co-founder and co-creator of award-winning performance company Big One Little One and director of Beloved Monster.
Both have spent time lecturing at Charles Sturt University and mentoring young local artists to develop their own work.
This fun and informative workshop looks at the voice of the character in a monologue and how to find them among the writing style, form and context. Delve into the technical side of drama by looking into the information in the monologue itself.
This invaluable skill is particularly useful for audition pieces and HSC preparation.

The workshop will be held from 11am-4.30pm on Tuesday, July 16 and cost is $50. Bookings are essential.
And then on Thursday, we'll be joined by internationally renowned actor Jacob Rajan, who will be in Bathurst to perform on Friday and Saturday in the Annual Season performances of Guru Of Chai.
Jacob was the first Indian actor to graduate from Toi Whakaari - NZ School of Drama and is one of the founders of award-winning touring company Indian Ink.
He'll be delivering a 90-minute workshop to locals, an Introduction to Acting at the Level of Mask.
In this workshop, students participate in exercises and games to experience what it is to act "at the level of mask".
The workshop focuses on liberating the body and voice to create characters that amplify human emotion, relationships and truth.
This workshop is free of charge for anyone who has purchased a ticket to the show on either Friday or Saturday night, but bookings are essential.
The workshop will be held from 10am-11.30am on Thursday, July 18.
