A truck has caught fire on the Great Western Highway between Lithgow and Mount Victoria, causing heavy traffic delays just at the corner of Cox's River Road.

No-one is believed to have been injured in the fire, which was hot enough to melt the aluminuim around the wheels of the tipper.
The incident happened at 4.23pm, according to Live Traffic NSW, with firefighters from Hartley brigade responding, with the truck in the westbound breakdown lane.

The situation has been contained by Rural Fire Service and the fire is nearly extinguished.
Diversions have not yet been put in place, and one westbound lane is set to be re-opened.
It's not clear what caused the fire to begin, nor what type of truck has caught alight.
