Two Bathurst veterinary clinics have merged into the one business to provide clients with a wider range of services concerning their pets.

The merger, which came into effect on Monday, has seen the Durham Street Veterinary Clinic join forces with Bathurst Veterinary Hospital to form the Bathurst Central Animal Hospital.
Bathurst Central Animal Hospital vet Dr Kirsten Ingwersen said the merger will expand the possibilities of what the clinic can offer.
"The merger will allow us more time to focus on the clinical side of our job," Dr Ingwersen said.
"It's a bit of a struggle managing two small businesses, and to pull the management side of things into one is a major advantage for our service."
The merger will allow the business to cater for larger animals such as horses, cattle and sheep.
National Veterinary Care regional manager Gina Byard said the site is currently on the look out for recruiting a vet capable of managing large animals.
"This will open up avenues for our customers to have all their pets' needs met, regardless of their size," Ms Byard said.
"We're also offering a 'Best for Pet' membership program, which offers our customers free, unlimited consultations, a preventative health care screening and savings on dental care."
As a result of the merger, the clinic now employs three vets, with operations to be based at 90 Rankin Street, the former site of Bathurst Veterinary Hospital.
The clinic is currently in the process of determining how to use the Durham Street site to further their services.
"We're thinking about using the site to add some boarding facilities for household pets, as well as a day care for dogs," Ms Byard said.
"There's also the option to extend the boarding facilities to larger animals." Dr Ingwersen added.
The merger unites the large customer base of the previous venues, amounting to approximately 19,000 active clients.
"Our clientele consists of around 70 per cent dogs, 25 per cent cats and 5 per cent smaller household pets," Dr Ingwersen said.
The clinic will stage a community open day in the coming weeks.
