SHE might have copped some light-hearted ribbing for the tears she shed during the national anthem last week, but make no mistake, new Wallaroos skipper Grace Hamilton is no soft touch when she battles in the green and gold.

Last Saturday the Panuara native proved as much as she ran for 168 metres, averaged almost seven metres on all of her 25 carries, made 12 tackles and was best on ground as the Wallaroos beat Japan 34-5.
The talented number 8 certainly led by example and showed why she was handed the captaincy by national coach Dwayne Nestor.
That's why she enjoyed the banter between herself and current Wallabies players Nick Phipps and Ned Hanigan as they discussed her emotional reaction to her captaincy debut.
"They were like 'Everyone was a bit emotional'. It is a bit different for them," Hamilton told rugby.com.au
"They were like: 'Grace you're supposed to fire people up, not make everyone cry'. It was a funny moment we had.
"I just try and play like that every time I get on that field. It doesn't matter if I am a captain or not, I just do what I need to do for the best of the team when I get on the field."

Doing the best for her team is what Hamilton will look to do again this Friday when facing the Cherry Blossoms once more.
Her work rate at the breakdown will be crucial as she knows Japan are determined to upset her side at North Sydney Oval.
"We have to back it up and that's the hardest thing to do," Hamilton said.
"I know it was really special not only for us but for girls who have been in the Wallaroos squad for a number of years. So it was good to get the win, first on home soil, but we hope to get another one on Friday.
"That first half was really tough and they put a lot of pressure on us. But we absorbed that really well, so for us to get out there, hopefully we won't have so many handling errors, but we can get out there and do what we want to do and spread it wide, but also take it forward like we did."
Kick-off at North Sydney Oval is at 7pm. The Wallaroos then face New Zealand at Perth on August 10.
