Mr Christie brings a wealth of experience to the role through teaching and performance positions with the likes of Circus Oz and Albury's Flying Fruit Fly Circus.
In his new role, Mr Christie is looking to help students understand their key strengths and enhance their potential as performers.
"I want to help student grow their confidence as circus performers and implement group patterns to ensure everyone works together," he said.
"While I've only just started, it's pleasing to see so many students keen to hone their skills."
Mr Christie commenced his new role yesterday with some acrobalance and hand-balancing exercises, and will be at the school to train students each Wednesday for the rest of the year.
"It's fantastic to hear the students perform regularly in the community, and I'm hoping to help expand Cirkus Surreal's potential," he said.
"There's so much repetition involved in perfecting circus skills and while it can be frustrating at times, the work eventually pays off."
Cirkus Surreal was founded in 2002 by former Kelso High deputy principal Stephanie Brown.
