Just the one goal from Panorama's Jacob Soetens - who scored against his old club - at Proctor Park was enough for his side to claim the win and keep the Black side five points behind the first place Workmen's Club.
Abercrombie did its best to draw level late in the second-half, however, the Panorama defence held strong to go a long way to secure its place in the top two and a second-chance come finals.
Panorama coach Brock Collins said Soetens' goal was a goal "only he could score".
"He got the ball in a really tricky area at the top area, but then he beat four or five blokes and scored a goal only he could," he said.
Collins said it was a "hard fought" match.
"There were a few heart in mouth moments towards the end but we definitely had some chances towards at the end too," he said.
"It was a great game of footy from both sides but we ended up getting the choccies in the end.

"It was a solid game from our guys and we defended really well, pressing through the middle and counter-attacking very well."
Collins said the win goes along way to securing a top two spot, meaning a second chance come the finals.
"Lithgow got a forfeit win over CSU [on Sunday] but our win keeps us in touch of them and keeps us clear of third, which is good," he said.
"With the top two having another crack at the cherry, we just want to stay in contention for a major semi come finals."

There's also been a shake up to men's premier league, after last year's grand final runners-up Mudgee Wolves withdrew.
That leaves the competition with just five teams - Abercrombie, CSU, Lithgow Workmen's Club, Panorama Black and Panorama Red - with the top four sides to compete in finals at the end of the regular season.
Collins said Workmen's Club claimed a forfeit win over CSU, while Panorama Red had the bye.
Workmen's Club leads the way in first place, with Panorama Black behind them, while Abercrombie remains in third position.
Defending champions Panorama Red are in fourth place, while CSU - who were premier league champions in 2016 and 2017 - are the only side out of a finals spot in fifth, which is now last place after Mudgee withdrew.
The next round of action in men's premier league kicks off at 3pm on Sunday, August 4.
CSU Bathurst will play Panorama Black, while Panorama Red has the away trip to the Marjorie Jackson Oval to face Workmen's Club.
The Abercrombie versus Mudgee Wolves game will not be played because of Mudgee's withdrawal from the competition.
