Well, with at least nine locations in town serving pizza, it does mean the Bathurst community is spoilt for choice.

However, the massive pizza market in Bathurst will no doubt it make it hard for owners to produce competitive prices while being profitable.

The crowded Bathurst pizza market includes national brands such as Pizza Hut, Little Caesars and Domino's (one in Kelso and West Bathurst), boutique eateries such as the Church Bar and Ciao Pizza and local pizza stores including Lewy's Pizza on George Street and Vic's Place On Stewart.

Ramesh Alturi has been the franchisee and owner of Pizza Hut Bathurst since March, 2017, after it took over from Eagle Boys, who went into receivership.

He admitted the pizza market in Bathurst is a "cut-throat market".

"Let's put it this way, there's too many shops for the population we have in this town," he said.

"That means it's a cut-throat market for prices."

Mr Alturi said he couldn't think of any other town in regional Australia that has so many pizza stores, whether franchises, gourmet or locally-owned ones.

"There might be more pizza lovers in Bathurst than any other town in Australia," he said.

"I don't know any other towns in Australia that has so many franchises and gourmet pizza stores, at least in regional Australia."

Down at the historic Tremain's Mill, Ciao Pizza is one of the newest pizza restaurants in Bathurst, having opened in late April and being owned by the Business Lab Enterprises.

Business Lab Enterprises managing director Andrea Faggiotto agreed that the Bathurst pizza market is extremely competitive.

Apart from Sydney, he can't think of another town or city in NSW that has such a large pizza market.

He believes that what makes Ciao Pizza so successful is the quality of pizza.

"We just get people to try the pizza and explain that this pizza is the healthiest of all the pizzas, not just in town, but world-wide," he said.

"It has very high-quality ingredients in the toppings and if they like it they'll come back."

Pizza Capers was a recent victim of the competitive Bathurst pizza markets, with the franchise closing its doors for the second time last month.
