BATHURST police are searching for a good Samaritan who gave chase following an attempted robbery.

Officers attached to the Chifley Police District issued the call out on social media Monday.
"Bathurst Police would like to speak to a witness who assisted a victim who had her handbag stolen in the Coles car park at 5.45pm on Saturday, August 3," police officers posted online.
"The witness gave chase and was able to retrieve the handbag and contents.
"If you are this person, Chifley PD [Police District] would like to say a big thank you."
