Drop-in sessions will be held at various locations to give people all the information they need to know about the $52 million project.

Council is in the process of putting together the required environmental impact statement, with technical surveys for it under way, while waiting for Apex Circuit Design to complete the final design.

At this stage, council anticipates to receive the design back before the end of the year, at which point it will be placed on public exhibition.

The community can provide feedback at this time.

Construction is slated to start in early 2021, but mayor Graeme Hanger said that is "subject to the timing of development consent and funding arrangements".

Currently, council has $27.5 million set aside for the project, with $15 million committed by the NSW Government and the remaining $12.5 coming from the Federal Government.

In addition to building a second race track, approximately 4.5 kilometres in length, the project will deliver a pit building and paddock, car parking facilities and helipad.

Later, the facilities would be expanded to include a hotel, driver training centre and a driver experience centre.

Council plans to keep the community informed about the project as it progresses and the upcoming drop-in sessions are one way of doing that.

"Council, Apex Circuit Design and the project delivery team are committed to the participation of all interested parties in the development of the second circuit at all stages of the planning process," Cr Hanger said.

"Everyone is encouraged to come along to one of the drop-in sessions to learn about the latest developments and provide feedback as the design is further developed."

The first session will be at Armada Bathurst (formerly Strocklands) on Thursday between 4pm and 7pm.
