BATHURST petrol prices have dropped slightly in the last week, seeing the city remain second in the Central West when it comes to the most competitive prices.

For the week ending August 4, Bathurst's average price for unleaded fuel was 136 cents per litre, down one cent from the previous week.
The city is still trailing behind Orange which remained not only the cheapest in the region, but the second cheapest in NSW for areas monitored by the NRMA.
Orange's average for the week was 130.9 cents per litre, almost identical to the previous week.
Last week, NRMA spokesperson Rebecca Page said the cheap fuel prices in Orange were linked to new independent retailers.
"We know that when one service station drops their prices others in the neighbourhood tend to drop their prices to create competition," she said.
Motorist are told to shop around for the best price as there can be a big discrepancy between local retailers.
