Those words from the racecaller in reference to Hes Chiming when he turned for home at the Bathurst Paceway on Wednesday night were no exaggeration - the Lester Hewitt's trained gelding was flying.
First up after a month-long spell, Hes Chiming hit the front down the back straight in the Happy 30th Mel Pace (1,730 metres) after a three-wide move. And once in the lead, nothing else had a chance.
The four-year-old Betterthancheddar x Ring My Chimes gelding, with Amanda Turnbull in the gig, led by a length-and-a-half at the 400m mark as he motored through the third sectional in 27.5 seconds.
That margin only grew as the $1.90 favourite went on to win by 16.6m in a career-best 1:54.3 mile rate.
It was the third win from six starts this season for Hewitt's talented gelding, Hes Chiming having finished outside the top three just once in his 10 career starts.
