It makes ARG an equal share holder with Bathurst Regional Council and the two will work together to organise and promote the event in 2020 and beyond.
The 6 Hour has been run under the direction of James O'Brien, owner of Yeehah Events, since 2011, and he will work with ARG in delivering the next event.
ARG is a relatively new motor sports company committed to developing and promoting top quality categories at high-profile events.
The categories and events currently in the group's portfolio are TCR Australia, TCR New Zealand, Touring Car Masters, S5000 and now the Bathurst 6 Hour.
ARG is also set to pick up TA2 Muscle Cars, pending the final sign-off on an agreement with the category's management.
Non-executive officer James Warburton said ARG was "absolutely delighted" to have acquired the 6 Hour.
He said that there will be some changes to the event in 2020, but more so to broadcasting, media and the fan experience rather than the racing program itself.
"We're always very mindful when we take over an event not to change it too much in the first year," he said.
"There's obviously a lot of things already in place given it's April next year, so [we'll] make sure it's business as usual and very steady in that both fans and competitors don't turn up to a completely revolutionised event."
ARG is committed to keeping the 6 Hour accessible for emerging teams and drivers that want to race at Mount Panorama.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said council looks forward to working with the company on the running and development of the event.
"The Bathurst 6 Hour has continued to grow in popularity and stature in this time and we congratulate James O'Brien and Yeehah Events in establishing the event firmly on the motor racing calendar," he said.
"We look forward to working with ARG as our partner and being involved in the continued growth and success of this Easter weekend event."
The acquisition of a share in the Bathurst 6 Hour comes at a time when ARG is showing immense interest in the Mount Panorama circuit.
ARG is one of two companies, the other being Supercars, still in contention to hold a fifth and final major motor sport event at the iconic circuit.
Mr Warburton stressed that its bid for the fifth event was different and completely separate to the Bathurst 6 Hour, with the key difference being that the fifth event would have a global vision.
"Our event is more along the lines of a world challenge event, so five specific categories, one of course which is TCR, and bringing the best of the best from the globe to the Mountain, almost as a grand finale on the motor sport calendar," he said.
"It is a really, really big concept geared around economic stimulus, massive reach and coverage across the globe. It's a very, very different event."
There is potential for a round of the local TCR competition to come to Bathurst over the Easter weekend, but again this would be separate to any TCR involvement at a potential fifth major motor sport event at the circuit.
Council's decision on the fifth event is expected to be made in September.
The 2020 Bathurst 6 Hour will be on from April 10 to 12.
