Since Central West Rugby Union formed the New Holland Cup at the start of 2018, Narromine has been the undoubted kings.

They went undefeated on their way to glory in 2018 and this season have lost just once.

That 33-29 loss came at the hands of CSU - the same team which is aiming to cause a grand final surprise against the Gorillas this Saturday at Cale Oval.

It's an upset that CSU lock Jonah Ruzgas thinks they can produce.

After a four-week absence, Ruzgas made his comeback from serious injury in CSU's semi-final win against Mudgee last Saturday, and is hoping to ice his impressive debut season with premiership glory.

Ruzgas is excited to play, especially considering he starred in Parkes' loss to Narromine in the 2018 grand final. He is hoping for "a bit of redemption."

"The injury was a compound fracture between my patella and tibula and fibula, and then there was a little tear in my meniscus, and recovery was really good," he said.

"Worst case scenario the doctor said I was out for the season, best case was grand final and I got back a week early."

While a vast majority of the CSU line-up don't have the grand final experience of Ruzgas, he said he is confident his team-mates know what to do.

"One of our big chats is normally weather the storm, but I think this week we are going to have to be the storm," Ruzgas said.

"We're not going to be weathering anything, they are going to have to weather us. We will come out, show aggression, assert dominance early at set pieces and let the best combination in the comp, [Jack] Keppel and Regan [Hughes] do their job out wide."

Ruzgas sees centres Keppel and Hughes plus flyhalf Nick Plunkett as the men who can inspire CSU to an upset win on Saturday. They have certainly been on-field leaders thus far.

"If we are to win, Jack Keppel is going to have to get man of the match. I think on his day, he is one of the best players in the comp, he has got the best kicking game by far, the best vision and the way he commands his forwards and his backs around the field," Ruzgas said.

"The dark horse will be Nick Plunkett. I think a lot of teams worry about defending Regan and Jack and forget about how dominant Nick can be.

"So I think if we are to win, our forward pack are going to have to play great and our two best backs will be Plunkett and Keppel and if they can get good service, like Regan is definitely is going to have a blinder as well."

Importantly, it's not just Ruzgas but the whole CSU side which has the belief that they can pull off a victory 15 years since their last premiership.

"I think we can win. Tuesday night at training has been the best training we have had so far. Everything is clicking at the right time," Ruzgas said.

"This year to win 13 regular season games and only lose one so far in the finals, it's pretty big so hopefully we can get the win this weekend and top off a great season."

Kick-off in Saturday's grand final is at 3.15pm.
