Since 2016, Mount Panorama has hosted the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) but, due to the distance away from Europe, many teams elected to skip the first round.
Lamborghini will add to its current raging bulls with FFF Racing Team ACM to join Trofeo Motorsport on the 12 Hour grid.
Lamborghini will enter the series, including Bathurst, with at least one full-season Pro class entry with the possibility of additional teams joining them according to head of motor sport Giorgio Sanna.
"We will compete in IGTC next year with at least one Pro car," Sanna told Sportscar365.
"We are a global customer racing department and of course also a global brand. We always look step by step to expand our programs and our vision, from the business and marketing sides to the sporting side.
"Until today, there was not the right chance to move into Intercontinental Challenge with the right team, components and drivers.
"Today, with FFF, we are working to be ready in this kind of field. There are also other important teams that are looking with interest.
"Now is the right moment."
This news also coincides with the announcement that Class B for the race will now be designated to Lamborghini Super Trofeo machinery.
The global one-make formula features identical Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo race cars, a series which features all over the world and is backed by Lamborghini's official 'Squadra Corse' motor sport arm.
Additionally, JAS Motorsport, who field the sole Honda NSX's in the IGTC, are likely to bring their cars to the event.
However, there are strong rumours that an Australian team will be heavily involved in the Japanese introduction to the race.
Honda have competed in every IGTC round bar Bathurst since the series began.
Whilst not competing in a full IGTC season in 2019, Aston Martin team R-Motorsport finished second outright at the 2019 12 Hour, and team boss Florian Kalmeger has signalled the team's interest in undertaking a complete program in 2020.
It will also see the Australian debut for the new generation Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
These three brands will likely join the fan favourite Bentley Continentals, the Audi Sport customer entries and the reigning champions Porsche next year.
The 12 Hour will run January 31 to February 2.
