The random act of kindness is an initiative of the Bathurst Schools network and it is one of the main activities undertaken by the students and teachers at Denison College during Education Week.
This initiative recognises the important work that is carried out by community organisations in Bathurst, while at the same time, linking public school students from Bathurst with community.
Denison College's random act of kindness involved supporting Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels is an important organisation. It provides 350,000 meals a year to local Bathurst residents.
Every day during Education Week, students from Bathurst High and Kelso High campuses assisted the Meals on Wheels volunteers by helping them deliver meals to the homes of community members in need.
Denison College students are embedded in the Bathurst community and they believe it is important that there are opportunities such as this for students to give back to the community.
They also know that their students will gain a lot from these experiences and they are looking forward to talking to them about what they learnt during this time, interacting and working with members of the community and volunteers. The students benefited by learning what it means to selflessly help others in need.
It is hoped that people enjoyed seeing and interacting with Denison College students.
