Parade was working from home recently when, unusually in this mobile age, there was a phone call on the landline.
When Parade answered the call there was a short delay before a recorded voice passed on the dire warning that the caller had been trying to make contact for several days and that Parade was in grave danger of having the NBN disconnected.
Parade did not hold on to hear any more and hung up on the call, ready to forget all about it.
Just an hour or so later, though, there was another call on the landline, another short delay and then another warning that the NBN would soon be disconnected.
Then came another call, and another.
In all, there were six calls in just a few hours - and Parade can only assume there have been dozens more go unanswered in recent weeks while he has been at work.
Sadly, it seems there must still be enough people falling for these scams to make it worthwhile for the crooks to keep going.
Please don't let them fool you. Hanging up is often your best move.
A national day for pooches
WE'VE barely recovered from International Cat Day but it's now time to shine for Bathurst's pampered pooches.
Monday, August 26 is National Dog Day, a day to celebrate man's (and woman's) best friend.
The annual day embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and abuse-free life.
We all know how much Bathurst people love their dogs, but it might be worth having some extra treats available on Monday.
