Boyton was later seen at the register with a trolley full of groceries. She did put the items on the conveyor belt and a witness saw her push the trolley past the checkout without paying for the groceries.
The manager and a security guard approached Boyton as she was walking to Big W and asked her to stop.
The security guard requested to see the receipt for the groceries and Boyton said it was under the groceries. The manager said he would wait while she got the receipt, but Boyton started yelling and swearing at the security guard and manager.
Boyton started to walk to the car park and was filmed by the security guard. She walked to a car and unloaded the items, while yelling offensive language at the security guard.
Boyton then tried to slap the victim across the face. One slap connected with the victim, shocking him, the police facts said.
Having loaded the items in her car, Boyton pushed an empty trolley in the direction of the victim, who was standing behind the glass doors.
Boyton walked in through the glass sliding doors and swung the trolley from her side, forcefully flinging it towards the victim while continuing to yell abuse. The victim was able to move out of the way of the trolley and avoid being hit.
Police obtained CCTV footage from the store a short time later.
It was estimated that the items allegedly stolen were worth about $250.
