Thirteen projects within Bathurst Regional Council will share in the funding, which was announced by Federal Member for Calare, Andrew Gee.
Projects to receive the funding include the Headmaster's Residence, Bathurst Region Village Water Tank Upgrade Project, a playground upgrade at Berry Park, renewal works at Machattie Park's historic fernery, Bathurst region small villages marketing promotion and event assistance, Perthville village footpaths, the expansion of the Meals on Wheels footpath, a chaplain's facility at Mount Panorama and a construction of off-leash dog area within Hector Park, to name just a few.
Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, said the Drought Communities Program supports communities in the most drought-affected regions of Australia and builds on more than $7 billion of Federal Government drought support measures.
"The important thing about the Drought Communities Program is that it recognises the severe impact the drought is not only having on farms, but also in our towns and villages.
"This major injection of federal funds is designed to assist our farmers, towns and surrounding regions to get through what is the worst drought in living memory," Mr Gee said.
"I'd like to congratulate Bathurst Regional Council and the community on identifying projects which will stimulate local community spending by using local resources, businesses, suppliers and workers. These projects will also provide long-lasting benefits to the Bathurst region.
"The only drought-breaker is rain, so we need to continue doing all we can to ensure these communities have the support they need to make it through these tough times."
Mayor of Bathurst, Cr Graeme Hanger, OAM, said Bathurst Regional Council appreciate funding.
"This investment into projects will result in new and improved infrastructure and facilities around our region, particularly in the rural villages in our LGA."
