The four-year-old girl, who lives in Eglinton with her family, was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in May.
She recently started having seizures and it is hoped that the family can raise $20,000 to get her a Smart Pups assistance dog, which can help alert people when she is having a seizure.
Fundraising coordinator Lauren Lyons, a friend of the family, said that the response had been fantastic.
"The Empowering Poppy campaign has exploded," she said. "It's absolutely unbelievable how amazing everyone has been. We have raised $5245 on the link and at the end of the month we will receive a confirmation from Smart Pups as to how much we have raised via the bank account, so will have a total figure."
Ms Lyons said there are smaller fundraisers happening around the community to support the campaign.
There will be a meat and 10 schooner raffle at the Dudley Hotel on Friday, September 6 and the Bathurst Uniting Community Markets will donate proceeds from the next event on September 14.
A mega raffle, which will have more than $3000 in prizes, is expected to be drawn at an event in early November. Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks.
