Since the introduction of the Enduro Cup in its current format, the Great Race has always been scheduled as the second stop in the three-event series.
A reshuffle for the 2019 saw the race become the Enduro Cup opener for the first time, but the 2020 calendar, which was released by Supercars on Wednesday, has set it as the second race again.
Councillor Warren Aubin said that, regardless of where the Bathurst 1000 is within the line-up, the popularity and excitement around the event shouldn't be affected.
"Our position doesn't really matter because our race is the best race and the one that everyone wants to win," he said.
Putting Bathurst back to the second event wasn't the only change to the Enduro Cup calendar.
The Sandown 500 has been removed from the line-up, it being replaced with a new 500-kilometre race at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.
"I don't know why they want to go there for an enduro," Cr Aubin said.
"They have a lot of sand getting blown onto the track and there is a lot of infrastructure they need to build.
"I feel sorry for Sandown. It has been a classic race over many years and I'm not sure The Bend can replace it."
The Bend is a new permanent race circuit built at Tailem Bend, which was included on the Supercars calendar for the first time in 2018.
Supercars raced at the circuit again last weekend, with the two races won by championship leader Scott McLaughlin.
The third and final event in the 2020 Enduro Cup will be the Gold Coast 600.
While it is still in its usual position in the line-up, Supercars has said the race weekend will be revamped.
The event will feature night racing for the first time and there will be two top ten shootouts to finalise Saturday and Sunday qualifying.
Cr Aubin said he wasn't surprised that Gold Coast remained part of the Enduro Cup, saying it was very popular and fell at the optimum time of year for the location.
While Sandown isn't part of the endurance series, the track will remain on the calendar in 2020.
Two 200-kilometre sprint races will be held at the circuit in late November, 2020.
The Bathurst 1000 will be held at Mount Panorama on October 11, three weeks after the endurance race at The Bend.
The full calendar for 2020 can be seen on the Supercars website.
When asked if Supercars could end up making two stops in Bathurst in the future, Cr Aubin seemed certain it would be a reality.
"I would say we will get a sprint round at the new track and the big race will stay on the main circuit," he said.
