The Bathurst Business Chamber has announced that the Seymour Centre will be the charity to benefit from this year's awards.

President of the chamber, Angus Edwards, said it was a way for the business community to continue its support of local charities.

"Having a charity every year is really an extension of what lots of businesses are doing throughout the year, supporting different charities, community groups, schools and sporting clubs," he said.

"Having one charity benefiting each year brings all that together and highlights the contributions that businesses make to not-for-profits and community groups."

To raise money for the Seymour Centre, the chamber will sell tickets to a raffle.

The tickets will be available at the upcoming finalists night on September 17 and will continue to be sold up until the night of the gala dinner, October 18.

There will also be an auction at the gala dinner to raise further funds.

Business chamber marketing and events coordinator Simone Townsend said people can also support the Seymour Centre by making donations.

"People can also donate money at any of our sponsors' business premises in between the finalists night and the gala night if they don't want to be involved in the raffle or the auction," she said.

All money raised will be used for the Seymour Centre's dementia support programs.

Seymour Centre CEO Terisa Ashworth said the financial support made it possible to deliver additional services.

"Although we do get some government funding, these types of things enable us to provide additional services that we wouldn't be able to provide otherwise," she said.

Already, the Seymour Centre supports people with dementia by offering services including respite for carers, social support for people experiencing dementia and support groups for carers.

Ms Ashworth said there would be some exciting announcements made soon about more services.
