The new room features three enormous screens that play an 11-minute video of the greatest moments from Mount Panorama's racing history.
Although it opened two weeks ago, it got a major workout on Sunday when the museum celebrated Father's Day.
Bathurst Regional Council's museums manager Janelle Middleton said you could hear "a lot of oohs and ahhs" coming from the room.
"The feedback has been really good. It's an immersive experience, it's about getting in and actually seeing the cars and hearing the noises," she said.
"They like the historic footage, it sort of gets them in the mood so when they're walking around the museum they're actually thinking about the race. It's not just a static display."
